sydney-housing-marketAustralia's economy along with much of the developed nations is in unchartered territory

  • Australia housing market could crash by a further 40% and 20% is the best case scenario
  • Prices have already crashed  6.7% in the last 12 months
  • Millions are now at risk of negative equity
  • Australia is at risk of humanitarian crisis, homelessness and drug abuse could explode.

Australia's economy along with much of the developed nations is in uncharted territory. Growth remains flat and in the land down under, coal and other mineral exports to China are slowing due to falling imports in Asia.

The Australia banking system has been on lending spree for many years.  Many of the mortgages lent are interest only mortgages and now a huge housing bubble has been created. Are the house of cards about to come down?  Property prices were running so hot for many years, the developers couldn't keep up. In fact 100's of large scale apartments blocks have been built in such a hurried manner, some of them are literally starting to fall apart.

If the worse was to happen and the prices fell by a whopping 40%, then many people could be left homeless or forced into bankruptcy. Many people could turn to drugs and alcohol abuse and you only have to look at towns in America to see what happens when whole industries die. Opioid addiction is now the second biggest killer in the U.S.

As global debt  stands- $244 Trillion Government debt - $65.2 Trillion Non financial corporate debt - $72.9 Trillion Financial sector debt - $60 Trillion Household debt - $46.2 Trillion, something has to pop?  Experts are now suggesting either Italy, Australia or a bad Brexit could be the catalyst, and Australia could come of worse out of everyone.  The UK also has some degree of a housing bubble and if geopolitical problems continue to escalate or brexit goes bad, then house prices in the UK could retreat to similar amounts.
